The Sutton Police Department consists of 1 full time corporal, 1 full time sergeant, one full time chief and an administrative assistant. All of the officers are  graduates of the State of NH Police Academy and undergo continuing education, training and active duty to help ensure they are prepared the best that they can be to serve their community.

Police Department FAQ's

Requests must be made in writing either by request forms obtained at the Police Station or by a letter from an individual or Insurance Co., etc. The fee is $0.50 per page or a flat fee of $10.00 requested electronically. Incident reports are individually reviewed for release. Incident reports cannot be released if there are suspects, accused, or arrested parties mentioned in the report. Edited copies may be released in certain cases. Any questions pertaining to the release can be answered by the Chief of Police.

Civilian fingerprinting is done at the police department by appointment only please call 603-927-4422. Please have cards prefilled upon arrival. Cards are supplied by the requestor. 

You should be able to get a Protective order at your district court. If you live in Sutton, the district court is the 6th Circuit-District Division-Hillsborough, 15 Antrim Rd, Hillsborough NH. 

You must complete an application. Applications can be found on the NH Department of Safety web site The Application for a Resident Pistol/Revolver License may be downloaded or picked up at the Police department. Once submitted, the process takes approximately 14 business days. A $10 fee is due upon approval and receipt of the permit. You must print out the form and drop it off at the PD. Please fill out the form completely. References: They should NOT be a relative, if possible. They should know that you're using them as a reference. Picking up Your Permit: This must be done in person - you must pick up your own permit. Bring a photo ID (i.e., driver's license) Please bring exactly $10 cash or a check. We do Not accept credit or debit cards.

According to N.H. RSA 264:25, Reporting Requirements: In New Hampshire, any Motor Vehicle Accident causing death, personal injury, or combined damage over $1,000 must be reported in writing to the Division of Motor Vehicles within 15 days.

This can be accomplished by calling the Police to the scene so that they can file a report. If the police file a report that meets the above requirement, you, as the driver, are not required to notify the Division of Motor Vehicles.

If the police did not investigate, the individual operator(s) would be responsible for filing an Operator's Report (DSMV 400). This report must be mailed to:
